This lesson, I primarily worked on my weebly. Until today, I had only been doing research and writing blog posts in word documents. Now I have transferred all my blog posts and put up some of my notes in the 'note-taking' page. I also tried to choose a more appropriate theme and a relevant cover photo. While i am still getting the hang of using the site, my Weebly skills are gradually improving and I am more efficient at adding entries and putting up information.

This lesson I have closely looked at my questions and have been thinking about which direction I want to be heading in
for my Catherine the Great final product. At the beginning of the lesson, I primarily looked at how the enlightenment influenced her leadership, but as the lesson progressed I realised that it was probably too broad. After spending quite a lot of time narrowing down what I actually wanted to talk about in my final product, I was able to come up with my research
question ‘Where did Catherine’s reforms originate and what was their impact on Russia?’. I really like this question
because I feel as though it gives me a lot of areas to look such as her correspondence with the Enlightenment Philosophers, the reforms which she came up with and the impact which those reforms had on Russia. While I don’t intend to change my question, Dr Arends has recommended that I reword it to be more specific about what I mean by the origins of her reforms. Now that I have found my question , I think I will find it much easier to organise my thoughts and find the exact information that I need for my final product. I now feel more excited about the project because I know which direction I am heading in.
.

Since beginning my general research on the enlightenment, I have began to brainstorm some general questions
relating to my topic such as ‘What is the Enlightenment?’ and ‘Which
philosophers interested Catherine the most?’ using Bloom’s Upside Down Pyramid.
This has assisted my in gradually narrowing my initial, broad questions down to
more specific questions. After reading all my questions, I was able to see some
sub categories within my them including the influence of the Enlightenment
on Catherine, the reasons for Catherine’s interest in the Enlightenment and the
origins of Catherine’s reforms. I am hoping that next lesson I will be able to formulate my final research
question so that I can properly begin working towards my final piece.

Over the past few lessons we have been watching a video on Catherine the Great. I feel as though this has been beneficial because it has given us a better insight into her life and her experiences as a child, her marriage to Peter and her ruling of Russia. It has given me an increased depth of knowledge and will assist with my assignment. After watching some of the video, I have decided to look at the area of the enlightenment because I find it interesting how Catherine was fascinated with the enlightenment. Catherine's desire to learn about the enlightenment interests me because she was an absolute monarch and the enlightenment philosophers were completely against absolutism. I have been doing some background research on the enlightenment philosophers and theirinfluence on Catherine because that is the direction I intend to be heading in for my focus question.

Today we received our big assessment task for the next few weeks. It relates to Catherine the Great and we
have to create our own key question for the task and then write an essay, artical or historical narrative to answer it. In this lesson, we had to create a Weebly which is where we will record notes we have taken for our research, write our blog entries
and put up our bibliography. Next lesson, we will be choosing a general topic idea which is what our main question will be related to. I am slightly concerned about the whole task because I feel as though it is going to take a lot of steps to get it done and
it is quite overwhelming. I also think that using a Weebly for a lot of my work
will be challenging because I lack experience at making websites. I am hoping
within the next lesson I will be able to figure out which direction I am heading
in because I am feeling quite apprehensive about the whole task at the
moment.
